Lenten Spiritual Exercises
Why Spiritual Exercises? What are Spiritual Exercises?
Spiritual Exercises are intentional disciplines that if practiced with regularity can enlarge and help us to enjoy the presence of God. Spiritual Exercises strengthen the soul just as physical exercise strengthens the body. Spiritual Exercises help us become more focused and aware of the God who is already here. In the Wesleyan tradition, spiritual discipline was also the main force. I believe that we will grow spiritually and transform if we practice them regularly.
Some time ago I searched and searched for something to guide and contribute to my journey of faith. These are some of spiritual exercises I love to practice and have been strengthened. So I have shared them to you from time to time at Crystal Springs United Methodist Church.
Spiritual Exercises are like a manual to teach how to play sports. If we don’t practice, it does not effect at all. On this Lenten season I thought that it might be a good idea to present them to you as a booklet so that you may practice them individually and as a group from this special season of Lent.
If you have any questions or want to learn more about any of these Spiritual Exercises, please contact me (Pastor Hee Soon, heesoon@gmail.com, 650-390-7036). I would love to accompany you with practicing them at any time.
Blessings,
Pastor Hee Soon
