Holocaust Survivors Talk 7/12/2015
Sunday, July 12th, at 11:15 am, two survivors of the Holocaust will give a talk about their experience surviving the Holocaust. The talk will be held at Crystal Springs UMC, 2145 Bunker Hill Dr., San Mateo. Here are the bios of the two survivors:
Lenci Farcas
I was born in 1922 in the former
Czechoslovakia in a small village of 5000
inhabitants. There were 120 Jewish
families. We lived a very peaceful life until
Hitler turned the world upside down. By the
time we were deported to Auschwitz, my
village had become a part of Hungary.
After surviving the Holocaust, I returned
“home,” married, and had a child. By the
time our son was 15 months old we
escaped Soviet occupation and made it
into Austria. In 1949, we arrived in the USA
and started a new life, eventually settling
in San Francisco Bay Area.
Livia Grunfeld Ne Samuel
I was born June 10, 1925 in a small town in
Romania. In 1941 the region I was born in
became part of Hungary and in 1944 the
German occupation occurred. After the
liberation, mine being January 18, 1945, I
returned to my home. I emigrated to the
USA in 1964.
