Ministries Overview

Our purpose is to nurture  spiritual growth, fellowship, and positive well-being within our members and within the community around us.   Below are brief descriptions of some of CSUMC’s ministries.   We invite you  to participate in some of  them with our caring church family.

Sunday Worship Services

Regular Sunday morning services are held each week.  During these adult services Sunday School is provided for older children and  child care is available for  younger children.

NOTE:  During these unprecedented times we have not been able to have service in our beautiful sanctuary, however we are able to still conduct services through the ZOOM platform, this also includes Youth Ministry.  For more details and information please contact our church office.

Outreach

The church has several outreach programs to the local community.  These include weekly visits to help Second Harvest (a local charity which finds and distributes food to local charities) and another to serve food to the poor.   We also participate in helping facilitate meals a few times a year for Home and Hope.  Home & Hope’s mission is to provide a safe haven for families facing homelessness and help them to regain long-term self-sufficiency. They seek to increase awareness around the issue of homelessness by actively engaging volunteers from the local community.  Facilities are also provided to such programs as Alcoholics Anonymous.

Adult Programs

A wide variety of different activities are sponsored by the church which directly enhance the lives of adults in the community  including housewives, mothers, single business people, and seniors.

For example, providing regular positive, productive, convenient fellowship in a nurturing spiritual environment fills a need many adults in today’s “isolated” society definitely have.     Just having a good (but intensely busy and competitive) job and an expensive (but lonely) house are often not enough.   Joining in one of our productive committees or groups or in the social hours following church services are all excellent ways of interacting high-quality potential friends without feeling uncomfortable or pressured.

Childrens Programs

Children are an important part of CSUMC.    Many positive ways for them to be involved and to grow are provided.    This includes child care for the littlest ones and outstanding outdoor recreational facilities  behind the church.

NOTE:  During these unprecedented times we are using the ZOOM platform to carry out our Youth Ministry during Sunday Service and Youth Night (which is a game activity associated with bible themes).

Regular Sunday School services each week and Vacation Bible Schools every summer are just two examples.   Several days during the week a fun after-school program is held in our great facilities in collaboration with Highlands Recreation Center.     We even lease space to two excellent child-care programs which operate during the week.
